How a gold price is built, what 22K means, and how to read a hallmark.
The 22K rate is filled in from our showroom's daily rate sheet and you can change it. This is an estimate, not a quotation.
The 10% making charge is only a sample value. Ask us for the real figure on your piece.
| Karat | Gold | Mark |
|---|---|---|
| 24K | 99.9% | 999 |
| 22K | 91.6% | 916 |
| 18K | 75.0% | 750 |
| 14K | 58.5% | 585 |
24K is too soft to wear. 22K is the practical standard for Indian jewellery.
Since 1 July 2021 hallmarked gold carries three marks: the BIS logo, the purity grade (for example 22K916) and a six-character HUID unique to that piece.
Check any HUID yourself in the BIS CARE app. A hallmark certifies purity only. It says nothing about stones, net weight, workmanship or price.
1. Show me the hallmark under a loupe.
2. What is the net gold weight?
3. What is the making charge?
4. What am I paying for the stones?
5. May I have a proper itemised bill?
If the goal is purely investment, a coin serves you better, since you are not paying for craftsmanship you will not wear. Buy jewellery to wear or to pass down.
Often yes, depending on the design. Bring the piece in and we will say what is possible before starting.
Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush for plain gold. For kundan, polki and jadau, wipe with a dry soft cloth only.
Please ask us directly. It depends on the piece and the day.
